Office of Fair Trading (OFT) - Case Officer - £28k/£32 - London

    Closing date: December 23, 2009

The UK’s consumer and competition authority, the OFT’s mission is to make markets work well for consumers. Protecting the interests of the public through research, advice, guidance and, increasingly, enforcement, our profile has never been higher. Join our Professions team as Case Officer and you’ll be exposed to a wide variety of work, often involving fairly complex legal and economic issues.

Providing vital support to the Team Leader, you’ll deal with issues that arise in the Professions Sector and play an important role in the timely delivery of high-quality market-specific research and interventions. Drafting letters, providing statutory advice and Freedom of Information Act responses, preparing documentation for specific cases, carrying out legal research and providing analysis and assessment and briefing senior managers - all and more are key elements of an interesting role in a busy and constantly changing area of the OFT’s activities.

Your career to date has seen you work at a regulatory body or law firm or in an economist type role, possibly in a government department. An effective communicator with excellent drafting skills, you have a good eye for detail and are used to working in a team based, delivery focused environment. What’s more, you are comfortable working under pressure on major projects and, above all, keen to experience the variety and challenge that working at the OFT can bring.
